STARTING THE YEAR OFF RIGHT!
PHEW – January has been a huge month for the team here at G&M. Here’s what we’ve been up to.
Master of colour inspiration
A few weeks ago we held our company day at Wella Studios, London. We use the day as an opportunity to say a massive thank you to the team. Everyone works so hard all year round, so it’s important to let them know that their hard work is appreciated.
Owner John Roads said: “The concept of the company and awards day comes back to the ethos that I hold very dear; it’s my life’s objective to provide a workplace that supports, celebrates, coaches, encourages and nurtures the entire team.”
The day was one that not only rewarded achievements; it also inspired the team with the addition of the influential and fashion forward Jayson Gray, Wella Professionals Master Colour Expert, as well as wonderful Wella Educator, Nicole Cunningham.
The big prize on the day was the Master Colour Program, a year-long program that is equivalent to a degree and is the highest qualification in colour.
Once the awards were over, the team were treated to a sumptuous meal and certain team members didn’t make it home until the next day!
Colour tips on tap
Colour is the area that we believe we thrive in at Gatsby & Miller, so we decided it was time to share our wealth of knowledge. Last week, Julie Church, our Master Colour Expert led the team for a colour training evening. Focusing on the benefits of using Olaplex, as well as the enduring colour techniques of Balayage and Ombre, Julie, Sian and the team inspired the attendees, some of whom were young hairdressing students from Aylesbury College.
On the night, Sam, an attendee said: “tonight was fantastic, really inspiring.
It was a really fun evening and nice to hear and see how others work in a salon. Sometimes, working on your own can become a bit structured and a bit robotic. It’s nice to take a few simple tips away with me that will change how I work.”
