Meet Gatsby & Miller's New Artistic Director Lizzie Williams

We are excited to introduce you to our new Artistic Director Lizzie Williams who will not only be creating gorgeous hair for our lovely clients, but is also going to set up a new Art Team at Gatsby & Miller.

Although only 21, Lizzie has packed a lot into her hairdressing career.  Her hairdressing journey began at the age of 15 when she became a hairdressing apprentice.  She discovered a talent for hair cutting and colouring and loved being able to express her creativity.

While still completing her NVQ Level 2 qualification in hairdressing, Lizzie was thrilled to become the youngest ever member of her salon's Creative Team at the tender age of 17.  Around the same time, she entered the Wella XPOSURE photographic competition and made it to the regional finals (winning the Gold Award in the academy category three years later).

In 2019 Lizzie was chosen from thousands of form the five-strong Generation NOW - a team of rising stars keen to make their mark in the world of hairdressing.  Lizzie was given some great opportunities including representing Wella at major hairdressing events. 

That same year, she was shortlisted for the Most Wanted IT List Rising Star award and is currently waiting to see how she does in the prestigious Most Wanted IT Girl award (we'll keep you updated!)

She says: "I am incredibly passionate – maybe even a little bit obsessed – with hair and love to inject creativity and passion into everything I do, whether that be assisting and collaborating with others or heading up my own creative projects."

Lizzie Wants To Give Back To The Hairdressing Industry

Part of her ethos is to give back to the industry by sharing her knowledge and helping to train others. She has helped train hairdressing apprentices, been a guest artist for Wella, educating hairdressers around the UK, and has set up an online hairdressing community for young stylists aged 15 to 25 to provide inspiration, advice and information to help them become the best. 

Continuing with her aspiration to give back, Lizzie has joined the team at Gatsby & Miller in Amersham as Artistic Director.  She says: I love that the Gatsby & Miller brand is focused around the motto ‘Never about us, always about you’. It’s all about putting people ahead of profit and building a company that leaves a legacy. 

"I cannot wait to meet the Gatsby & Miller team and clients.  It's also going to be exciting building Gatsby & Miller's first ever Art Team. Together we will create a beautiful collection of images that represent the Gatsby & Miller brand. I’d like to give stylists the opportunities I have had such as entering competitions, taking part in photo shoots, attending courses and pushing themselves to succeed."

John Roads, Director of Gatsby & Miller, says: “Lizzie has an incredible ‘can-do’ attitude.  She may only be 21 but she has already achieved so much.  I want to give her this opportunity and see where it takes her. Let her continue to make her mark on the industry.”
