GATSBY & MILLER JOIN MOROCCANOIL CREATIVE TEAM FOR LFW SS16

London Fashion Week was an exciting occasion for Gatsby & Miller salon director Julie Church when she joined the Moroccanoil Creative Team at the city’s biannual fashion frenzy that sees fashion editors the globe over descend upon London.

Invited by Antonio Corral Calero, Global Moroccanoil Ambassador, and joined by Amersham team member Gianluca Sessa, the team worked on three shows over the weekend, including Temperley, Osman and Kristian Aadenevik.

The Spring Summer 16 collections were the centre of focus, while hair revealed some strong key trends that we’re pleased to share with you, including the products that will help you achieve our key runway look. With our team learning first hand what’s new, we’re able to bring the latest trend led hair, to the salon, just in time for Christmas events and parties!

The Trend: Dressed Naturelle
While OSMAN encouraged ‘Be who you are and embrace your natural beauty’, the collection featured elements of ethnicity and surrealism, and is imbued with a certain femininity and romance.

The Trend: Detailed Braiding
Kristian Aadnevik’s love of wild and rural England was the inspiration of the latest SS16 collection and Global Moroccanoil Ambassador, Antonio Corral Calero, takes this season’s hair inspiration from the English garden. ‘Just as a rose has two sides, the look is both whimsical and feminine but also raw and full of character – empowering women to embrace their natural beauty. The look is designed to complement the collection; with intricate amounts of detail, it’s also achievable at home’ he explained.

The Trend: Textured Low Ponytail
Working on the Temperley SS16 show seen a mix of fabrics, and a little Cuban atmosphere thrown in. With that in mind, the low ponytail was revamped with some texture sensuality, possibly even flirtation styling. Still sophisticated, this was one of the coming looks we loved, and now you can find out what you need, and how to get that look!

How the Look Was Created:
Apply Moroccanoil Treatment to wet hair and blast dry.

Splitting hair into three sections (the sides and back), apply Moroccanoil Root Boost in uneven zig zag motions and blast dry, using the fingers to work it into the hair. This will give the hair an uneven texture.

Create a straight middle parting from the hairline to the crown

Using your fingers, loosely rake the hair back into a ponytail at the nape of the neck and secure with an elastic. There is no need to use a brush – use your fingers to get a natural, easy look.

Grabbing the ponytail with one hand, use the fingers of your other hand to weave into the top of the ponytail. Close your fingers tightly, to grip sections of hair in between, and lift them an inch to give the ponytail some additional texture.

Take random sections of hair and, using an inch and a half barrel tong, loosely curl the hair into the head. Do this to three or four sections.

Use the tips of your fingers to dishevel the ponytail down the length.

Take a pinch of Moroccanoil Molding Cream, rub into hands to warm up, and tap it down the ponytail into the length of the hair.

Take a little piece of hair from underneath the ponytail, wrap it around the elastic a few times and then secure with a pin, hiding the pin in the hair.

Using your fingers, very lightly pull loose a few strands of hair at the front, and roll the hair in the tips of your fingers to give it some texture. Let the strands fall gently onto the face.
